Sorceress
Starting Stats:
Strength - 10
Dexterity - 25
Vitality - 10
Energy - 35
Gaining levels adds:
+1 to life
+1 to stamina
+2 mana
Adding 1 point into Vitality
yields +2 life
Adding 1 point into Vitality yields +1 stamina
Adding 1 point into Energy yields +2 energy
Sorceress's are pure
spellcasters, not
relying on their fighting strength(which is pitiful) but on their magic
abilities and the multitude of projectiles they can fling from
them. Sorceress are incredibly powerful, being able to do high
amounts of damage quickly while teleporting everywhere. The
Sorceress is incredibly skilled at killing monsters but not quite up to
par with the Amazon when it comes to fighting other players.
Despite the fact that magic users
typically use staffs, Sorceress's on B.net tend to make them equip an
orb and a shield. Sorceress's are killed off very easily, so they
need plenty of life and defense to compensate for their physical
weakness. Having a fast cast rate and the regeneration of mana is
the primary properties that you would want a Sorceress to be high on.
Strategies
-When
making a Sorceress, the old strategy back in Diablo II classic was to
focus on one elemental tree. With the addition of elemental immune
monsters and crazy-ass resists in Diablo II Expansion, it is now
mandatory to invest in at least two skill trees. -Having
incredibly high amounts of mana in a Sorceress is no longer as important
as it was back then. Focus more on Vitality and life. -The
addition of charms make Sorceress one of the most powerful classes in
Diablo II. Sorceresses benefit the most from +life small charms,
+skill grand charms, +resist charms, and +faster run/walk charms. -When
fighting monsters, don't stand too close to them, as the lag can get bad
at times and you can find yourself getting hit by invisible
monsters. Stand a bit away from monsters and use your attacks to
be safe. -When
fighting Players, be sure to hotkey Teleport because that skill will
save your ass many a time. -If
you decide to use some skills from the Cold Trees as your primary
attack, be sure to put at least one point into Cold Mastery. -For
a PK(Player-Kill Sorceress), favor items that have +skills, faster-cast
rate, and mana regeneration on them. -For
an MF(Magic Find Sorceress), favor items that have mana regeneration and
mf on them. Skill
Point Distribution For
the PK Sorceress, do this: -Max
out Nova -Max
out Thunder Storm -Max
out Lightning Mastery -Max
out Frozen Orb -Put
at least one point into Cold Mastery -Put
at least one point into Energy Shield -Put
at least one point into Teleport -Put
at least one point into Shiver Armor/Chilling Armor -Put
at least one point into Static Field -Put
at least one point into Warmth -That
should be it. Some people like to max out Charged Bolt instead of
Nova, but when fighting monsters/players with high lightning resists,
Nova is far more effective. For
the MF Sorceress, do this: -Max
out Fire Wall -Max
out Fire Mastery -Max
out Warmth -Max out
Frozen Orb -Put at
least one point into Cold Mastery -Put
at least one point into Energy Shield -Put
at least one point into Shiver Armor/Chilling Armor -Put
at least one point into Teleport -Put
at least one point into Static Field -That's
basically it. The goal of an MF Sorceress is to kill off Mephisto,
so use Frozen Orb on him to slow him down, and drain his life with
Static Field, then Fire Wall. Stat Point
Distribution For
the PK Sorceress, distribute your stat points like follows: For
every even level you gain, add
+1 to strength
+2 to vitality
+2 to energy For every
odd level you gain, add
+1 to strength
+1 to vitality
+3 energy For example,
let's say that I gain a level from Level 1 to Level 2. Since I'm
at Level 2, that's an even level, so I add +1 to str, +2 to vit, and +2
to energy. Just keep
repeating this pattern until your strength reaches 65. 65 Strength
is exactly enough to wear the ultimate PK Sorc Boots, the Silkweave.
After your strength reaches 65, do this pattern: Every
level you gain, add:
+3 to vitality
+2 to energy Now keep
repeating this pattern until your mana reaches 1000. Count items
in too. Once your mana reaches 1000(with the help of other items,
like soj, Gloom's Trap, etc...), just put all of your stat points into
vitality. So the final
perfect result Sorceress should be somewhat like this: Strength-65
It's set at 65 so you can wear Silkweave. Vitality-Lots
of it
I don't have a fixed number, but it should be pretty high. Dexterity-Nothing
Don't put any points into Dexterity. Energy-Just
enough so that your mana is 1000(if it exceeds 1000 because of items,
that's ok). Now for
the MF Sorc, distribute your stat points like so: For
every even level, add:
+1 to strength
+2 to vitality
+2 to energy For every
odd level, add:
+1 to strength
+1 to vitality
+3 to energy Yup,
exact same pattern as the PK Sorceress. However, the changing of
the pattern is different. Keep doing this pattern until your
strength reaches 97(so you can wear Skullder's Ire). Once your
strength reaches 97, use the following pattern: For
every level, add:
+5 to dexterity Now
just do that until your dexterity reaches 42. Once it reaches 42,
your level should be around the 85-90 range. The minimum level a
MF sorceress should be is 91. After your dex is 42, use this
pattern: For every
level, add:
+2 to vitality
+3 to energy Just do
that for the rest of your leveling. Types
of Sorceresses There
are generally only two types of Sorceress
on Battle.net: The PK Sorceress, and the MF Sorceress. The PK
Sorceress is designed to kill off monsters and players incredibly
quickly, while the MF Sorceress is designed to kill Meph and other boss
monsters quickly. PK
Sorceress
-Always activates Thunderstorm, Energy Shield and Shiver/Chilling Armor
-Uses Frozen Orb and Nova as primary attack
-Normally has incredibly fast casting rate(90+)
-Has lots of HP(900+)
-Uses teleport A LOT
-Has incredibly high resists(make sure that all of them are above -20 in
Hell)
-In Cow Runs or when fighting monsters, uses general pattern of firing
out Frozen Orb, firing out a load of Static, then Nova to finish off
monsters. MF Sorceress
-Always activates Energy Shield and Shiver/Chilling Armor
-Uses Frozen Orb to slow down enemies, Static Field to weaken them, and
Fire Wall to finish them off
-Normally has pitiful casting rate
-Normally has pitiful life EquipmentFor
the PK Sorc, use the following equipment: Weapons
Unique Bone Knife - Wizardspike
One-Hand Damage:
23 to 49 (36 Avg)
Required Level: 61
Required Strength: 38
Required Dexterity: 75
Base Weapon Speed: [-20]
+ (2 Per Character Level) 2-198 To Mana
(Based On Character Level)
50% Faster Cast Rate
Regenerate Mana 15%
Increase Maximum Mana 15%
All Resistances +75
Indestructible |
Wizardspike was the
ultimate Sorcerer weapon in Diablo I, and it's still awesome in
Diablo II Expansion. Offering incredible faster cast/rate,
a gargantuan mana increase, mana regeneration, and an incredible
75 to all resists, Wizardspike is definitely a weapon to
keep. Sure, it doesn't have +skills on it, but with this
many bonuses, who needs +skills? |
Unique Swirling Crystal -
The
Oculus
One-Hand Damage:
18 To 42 (30 Avg)
Required Level: 42
Durability: 50
(Sorceress Only)
+3 Sorceress Skill Levels
+5 To Mana After Each Kill
All Resistances +20
25% Chance To Cast Level 1 Teleport When Struck
30% Faster Cast Rate
+20 To Vitality
+20 To Energy
+20% Enhanced Defense
50% Better Chance Of Getting Magic Items |
Wow. The Oculus
is probably the ultimate Sorceress weapon, both MF and PK.
It offers a whopping +3 to Sorceress Skill Levels, a respectable
30% faster cast rate, +20 to all resists, and even some mf on
it. However, the 25% chance to cast teleport when struck
can be a lifesaver or hindrance, which is why it's ranked lower
than Wizardspike. |
Unique Burnt Wand - Suicide
Branch
One-Hand Damage:
8 To 18 (13 Avg)
Required Level: 33
Required Strength: 25
Durability: 15
Base Weapon Speed: [0]
150% Damage To Undead
+1 To All Skills
50% Faster Cast Rate
Increase Maximum Mana 10%
All Resistances +10
+40 To Life
Attacker Takes Damage of 25 |
Suicide Branch is
essentially a weaker version of Wizardspike. It still has
the incredible 50% faster cast rate, but its +all resists is
nowhere near as high, but also adds +1 to all skills. |
|
Or if you can't find any of
these awesome weapons, then just find and use a rare orb that
adds +2 to Sorceress Skill levels and hopefully some other
useful modifiers(like +3 to Thunderstorm or some faster
cast/rate) |
Just use these rare
orbs if you can't obtain the weapons above. |
Shields
Unique Grim Shield - Lidless
Wall
Defense:
91.8-347.3 (varies)(Base Defense: 50-150)
Required Level: 41
Required Strength: 58
Chance to Block: Pal: 50%, Ama/Asn/Bar: 45%, Dru/Nec/Sor: 40%
Durability: 40
Paladin Smite Damage: 14 To 20
+80-130% Enhanced Defense(varies)
+1 To All Skill Levels
Increase Maximum Mana 10%
20% Faster Cast Rate
+3-5 To Mana After Each Kill(varies)
+10 To Energy
+1 To Light Radius |
The ultimate PK Sorc
Shield. The incredibly useful +1 to all skills is great,
but in addition to that, it also adds some great faster cast
rate and a mana increase. |
Unique Defender - Visceratuant
Defense: 84-125
(varies)(Base Defense: 41-49)
Required Level: 28
Required Strength: 37
Chance to Block: Pal: 70%, Ama/Asn/Bar: 65%, Dru/Nec/Sor: 60%
Durability: 68
Paladin Smite Damage: 8 To 12
+100-150% Enhanced Defense(varies)
30% Increased Chance of Blocking
30% Faster Block Rate
+1 To Sorceress Skill Levels
Attacker Takes Lightning Damage of 10 |
Only use this shield
if you can't find a Lidless Wall. The only real useful
attribute on this is the +1 to all Sorceress Skills. |
Helms
Armor
Unique Serpentskin Armor -
Skin
of the Vipermagi
Defense:
246.4-279.4 (varies)(Base Defense: 111-126)
Required Level: 29
Required Strength: 43
Durability: 24
+120% Enhanced Defense
+1 To All Skills
30% Faster Cast Rate
Magic Damage Reduced By 9-13(varies)
All Resistances +20-35(varies) |
Definitely the best PK
Sorceress armor. Offering a nice +1 to all skills(which is
the highest on any armor. Arkaine's Valor no longer gives
+2 to Sorceresses). In addition to that, it has some
really great faster cast rate and the potential to be high all
resists(I have two perfect ones, with 35 to all resists) |
Unique Mage Plate - Que-Hegan's
Wisdom
Defense:
542.4-681.2 (varies)(Base Defense: 225-261)
Required Level: 51
Required Strength: 55
Durability: 60
+140-160% Enhanced Defense
+1 To All Skill Levels
+3 To Mana After Each Kill
20% Faster Cast Rate
20% Faster Hit Recovery
Magic Damage Reduced By 6-10(varies)
+15 To Energy |
Que-Hegan's Wisdom is
almost identical to Vipermagi, but slightly weaker. It
still has the +1 to all skills, but its faster cast rate is a
bit lower and there's no all resists to be found anywhere. |
Gloves
Unique Light Gauntlets -
Magefist
Defense:
20.8-24.3
Required Level: 23
Required Strength: 45
Durability: 18
+20-30% Enhanced Defense
+10 Defense
+1 To Fire Skills
20% Faster Cast Rate
Regenerate Mana 25%
Adds 1-6 Fire Damage |
Yup, these are
incredibly easy to find, but definitely the ultimate PK
Sorceress gloves. The +1 to fire skills isn't that
useful, but it's the casting rate and the mana regen that
makes it a cut above the crowd. |
Unique Gauntlets - Frostburn
Defense:
43.2-48
Required Level: 29
Required Strength: 60
Durability: 24
+10-20% Enhanced Defense(varies)
+30 Defense
+5% Enhanced Damage
Increase Maximum Mana 40%
Adds 1-6 Cold Damage, Cold Duration: 2 Seconds |
Unlike
Magefist, the
only purpose of Frostburn is to give you an incredible amount
of mana. Only use Frostburn if you don't have Magefist. |
Belt
Unique Mesh Belt - Gloom's
Trap
Defense:
79.2-102.5 (varies)(Base Defense: 35-40)
Required Level: 36
Required Strength: 58
Durability: 16
16 Boxes
+120-150% Enhanced Defense(varies)
5% Mana Stolen Per Hit
Increase Maximum Mana 15%
Regenerate Mana 15%
+15 To Vitality
-3 To Light Radius |
Best PK Sorc belt
because of its huge mana increase and the great mana regen. |
Set Mesh Belt - Tal
Rasha's Fine-Spun Cloth
Defense: 35-40
Required Level: 53
Required Strength: 47
Durability: 16
Requirements -20%
37% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
+30 To Mana
+20 To Dexterity
10-15% Better Chance Of Magic Items |
Not quite as good as
Gloom's Trap, the incredibly easy to find Tal Rasha's
Fine-Spun Cloth just has the useful damage taken goes to mana
attribute. |
Unique Belt - Nightsmoke
Defense:
21.5-23
Required Level: 20
Required Strength: 25
Durability: 16
+30-50% Enhanced Defense (varies)
+15 Defense
50% Damage Taken Goes to Mana
Damage Reduced By 2
All Resistances +10
+20 To Mana |
The best belt back
in Diablo II classic is not that great anymore in Expansion,
but it's still useable at least. The 50% damage taken
goes to mana is the only useful attribute. |
Boots
Unique Mesh Boots - Silkweave
Defense:
95-130.5 (varies)(Base Defense: 37-44)
Required Level: 36
Required Strength: 65
Durability: 16
+150-190% Enhanced Defense(varies)
30% Faster Run/Walk
+5 To Mana After Each Kill
Increase Maximum Mana 10%
+200 Defense VS. Missile |
The ultimate PK Sorc
boots because of its respectable faster run/walk, the increase
in mana, and the great missile defense. |
Unique Sharkskin Boots -
Waterwalk
Defense:
95.2-124 (varies)(Base Defense: 33-39)
Required Level: 32

+100 Defense Vs. Missile
+15 To Dexterity
+5% Maximum Fire Resist
Heal Stamina Plus 50%
+40 Max Stamina
+45-65 To Life(varies) |
Probably only useful
because of the huge increase in life and the fire resist. |
Set Mesh Boots - Natalya's
Soul
Defense:
112-119 (varies)(Base Defense: 37-44)
Required Level: 25
Required Strength: 65
Durability: 66
+75 Defense
40% Faster Run/Walk
Heal Stamina Plus (0.25 Per Character Level) 0.25-24.75%
(Based On Character Level)
Cold Resist +15%
Lightning Resist +15% |
Only use these if
you can't find the boots above. |
Amulet
Unique Amulet - Mara's
Kaleidoscope
Required
Level: 67
+2 To All Skill Levels
All Resistances +20-30(varies)
+5 To Energy
+5 To Vitality
+5 To Dexterity
+5 To Strength |
Mara's Kaleidoscope
is amazing, but incredibly difficult to find. The +2 to
all skills is already very good, but 30 to all resists is
incredible, and the +5 to all stats ain't that bad too. |
Set Amulet - Tal
Rasha's Adjudication
Required
Level: 67
+2 To Sorceress Skill Levels
Lightning Resist +33%
Adds 3-32 Lightning Damage
+42 To Mana
+50 To Life |
Mainly used just to
complete the Tal Rasha set. The addition to mana and
life is really useful along with the Lightning resist. |
|
If you can't find the amulets
above(which are both incredibly difficult to find), then just
try to get an amulet that has +2 to Sorceress Skills Levels
and hopefully some other useful modifiers(like 35 mf). |
Most people use
these amulets. |
Ring
Unique Ring - The
Stone
of Jordan
Required
Level: 29
+1 To All Skill Levels
Increase Maximum Mana 25%
Adds 1-12 Lightning Damage
+20 To Mana |
Used as currency
through Battle.net, these are most useful for the Sorceress,
as they add to all skills and have a huge increase in mana. |
Unique Ring - Raven
Frost
Required
Level: 45
+150-250 To Attack Rating
Adds 15-45 Cold Damage
Cannot Be Frozen
+15-20 To Dexterity(varies)
+40 To Mana
Cold Absorb 20% |
The Raven Frost is
mainly used for its cold resist and cold absorb, which is
incredibly useful for Paladins. I recommend PK
Sorceresses to use one soj and one Raven Frost, instead of the
usual two sojs build. The reason for this is to combat
cold resist, as Cold Mastery cuts through cold resist, but
Raven Frost can counteract that. MF Sorceresses should
just go with the usual 2 soj combo though. |
For the MF Sorc, use the
following: Weapon
Unique Swirling Crystal -
The
Oculus
One-Hand Damage:
18 To 42 (30 Avg)
Required Level: 42

25% Chance To Cast Level 1 Teleport When Struck
30% Faster Cast Rate
+20 To Vitality
+20 To Energy
+20% Enhanced Defense
50% Better Chance Of Getting Magic Items |
Definitely the
ultimate MF Sorc weapon. Although it doesn't offer
nowhere near as much MF as Alibaba or Gull, it has the +3 to
Sorceress Skill Levels that makes Firewall do 1,500 more
damage. |
Unique Tulwar - Blade

it has 2 sockets(just put 2 1st runes into it). |

and hopefully some faster run/walk.
