Kaolla Su
Su
is the #1 source for comic relief, a major element in the Love Hina series.
Other than that, Su is actually quite a mysterious character; the series doesn't
reveal much about her personal physical background (see spoiler). Love Hina
makes a very distinct characterization of Su, giving her traits of playfulness
and happy-go-lucky as well as being genius with mechanics. She always jokes
around with her "mecha" items- more prominently mecha
tamas,
in which the case of mecha-tamas gone bananas becomes a big trouble maker, at
the same time giving a chance for a funny side story. She doesn't have much
common sense (though her intelligence can easily make up for that), which is
both ironic and hilarious as she constantly asks if certain items are edible,
such as "What's todai? Is it edible" (Todai is a university) - Episode
1 or "Suicide... delicious?"- Ep 6. That being said, she always threatens to eat tama (a hot springs turtle) for
turtle soup. Su is one of the children of Hinata, and quickly makes friends with
other children like
Shinobu
and
Sara
MacDougal. Together they try to find hidden passages in the Inn-- quite a
hobby! ***SPOILER***
In
episodes 10-15, Su plays a major character in side plots, such as one in episode
10 where her
sister
Amalla appears.
In
episode 7 she devises a dream gadget which reveals one's dreams on TV. She put
it on
Naru and showed her dream vision of
Sakata
Kentaro. Thgough this would usually tell the audience they will be together,
he later appears to be a stalker, and no one really likes or respects him. So
obviously
Naru does not choose him as a boyfriend.

At this time Su is
supposedly to get married, but she is obviously too young. This adds to the
mystery of Su as when she looks directly at a red moon she begins a metamorphosis
sequence which causes her to grow older, reflecting a Sailor Moon like
animation. In her older form, Su is accompanied by a guitar and plays slow
tones which reflects mystery. In her older form, her personality is completely
changed and does not make crude jokes as usual.
