Popular melee maps include "Zero
Clutter" and "Fastest Map" (all available for download
here), which both feature extremely
fast mineral gathering and nearly unlimited resources. Game style is
mostly NR 15 or NR 20, NR meaning "No Rush."
Use Map
Settings games include Turret, Bunker, Lurker, and Sunken Defense. Also
there are a series of MTG maps (enigma and magus), "mass maps"
(mass zerglings, corsairs.. etc) typically called "(name of unit)
Blood" such as "Zergling Blood Platinum III!" There is also
Bunker Wars, and Marine Special Forces, and much more.
Most Zero Clutter maps are very similar, but some
claim that the map is less likely to be maxed out. The difference is
so little that no matter what version you use, it will eventually
max out.
This is a special
forces map, that is, very difficult to beat unless you are VERY
conservative in your playing style; it takes much patience. The best
character to use is the marine, but you can choose other characters
to begin with.
Bunker Wars was
always one of my favorite maps of all time. This one was actually
modified by me because of certain balance issues. This is the best
bunker wars map there is, so get it here!
The set of 6 way
sunken defenses are very good, but because it was too hard to beat,
the newer versions, such as this one, provided some secret ways to
get godly units that make beating the game much more feasible.
This version of
Zergling blood isn't the best one; actually the earliest versions
were the best. However, this version is incredibly hilarious to play
with (look at the Screenshots section).
These maps are
very very fun to play with. Essentially its a melee map but
everything costs nothing to build and they build as fast as if
"operation cwal" were turned on. Upgrades can go up to
255, so strategy is very different here.
